EGR removal and physical cleaning. On suitable vehicles, we can also remove and physically clean the EGR valve where carbon buildup is severe or the valve needs direct attention. This is separate from our standard carbon-cleaning services and is quoted individually depending on vehicle access and labour required.

Signs your engine needs a carbon clean

What happens on the day: the 60–90 minute process
For a hydrogen or chemical clean, it all happens wherever your car is parked — we’re mobile. Here’s what to expect when we arrive:
- A quick chat and check. We talk through your symptoms, kilometres and history, and look over the engine bay. If the buildup looks too heavy for a clean to fully fix, or if the real problem isn’t carbon at all — a DPF light, an obvious fault — we’ll raise it now, not after we’ve taken your money.
- Warm-up. The engine needs to be at operating temperature for the clean to work, so we get it there first.
- The clean (roughly 45–70 minutes). We connect the machine and feed the oxyhydrogen mix and cleaning agents through the intake while the engine runs; the car stays put and the carbon burns off out the exhaust.

What a carbon clean won’t do — and we’ll tell you up front:

- It won’t undo mechanical wear — worn rings, injectors or a tired turbo are repairs, not a clean.

Petrol and diesel: who it’s for
We carbon clean both petrol and diesel engines, but they carbon up differently and benefit in different ways.
Diesels carry the most soot by a long way. Utes, 4WDs and Euro diesels recirculate exhaust gas through the EGR, which coats the intake and EGR valve with thick, oily carbon, and the turbo can get sticky as deposits build on its variable vanes. Petrol engines carbon up too, just more slowly. The one real caveat is direct-injection (GDI) engines: because GDI sprays fuel straight into the cylinder, no fuel washes over the back of the intake valves, so carbon can cake on hard.
