Professional Wynn’s MultiSERVE Intake Cleaning

Not all carbon-cleaning services use the same process. Clean Flow uses professional Wynn’s MultiSERVE equipment to carry out a controlled on-vehicle chemical intake treatment.

The MultiSERVE delivers the treatment through a dedicated professional machine and air-intake cleaning program while the engine is operating under the required service conditions, using the appropriate Wynn’s professional cleaning fluid.

On suitable vehicles the treatment is carried out on the vehicle, without component disassembly.

What diesel intake carbon cleaning targets

Modern diesels accumulate carbon on the air-in side of the engine. Two things drive it: exhaust gas recirculated back through the EGR system, and oily vapour drawn in from the crankcase. Where those two meet, the soot and the oil combine into a sticky deposit that builds up over time.

This service targets contamination and deposits through:

  • The air intake
  • The intake manifold and runners
  • The inlet-valve area
  • The EGR valve and the connecting intake path

What it doesn’t do matters just as much. This is an intake service. It is not a turbo clean, not an injector clean, not a fuel-system machine clean, and not a DPF clean. Chemical treatment works on deposits it can reach and dissolve — it won’t return every intake to as-new condition, and very heavy or hardened carbon may be beyond what any chemical process can shift.

What is Wynn’s MultiSERVE?

Wynn’s MultiSERVE is professional workshop service equipment.

For this service, MultiSERVE is used specifically for its Air Intake Treatment program.

  • Professional service equipment
  • A dedicated Air Intake Treatment program
  • Operates while the engine is running, under the required service conditions
  • Used with the appropriate Wynn’s professional cleaning fluid
  • Capable of on-vehicle treatment without component disassembly where suitable

Our process, step by step

  1. Diagnose first. We scan the vehicle and assess the symptoms before we sell you a clean. If the problem is something else, you need to know that before you spend money.
  2. Inspect the intake system. We check the relevant intake and EGR components, and accessible sensors, to see what we’re actually dealing with.
  3. Connect the Wynn’s MultiSERVE. The professional intake-cleaning equipment is set up correctly for your vehicle.
  4. Controlled chemical intake treatment. The professional cleaning fluid is delivered through the air intake via the machine’s dedicated Air Intake Treatment program, with the engine operating under the required service conditions.
  5. Post-clean checks. We check engine operation and the relevant diagnostic data after the treatment, and tell you what we found.

When chemical cleaning may not be enough

We’d rather you spent your money once, on the right job. These are the situations where an intake clean is the wrong call:

  • A failed EGR valve or component. A valve that’s stuck, seized or electrically faulty needs repair or replacement. Chemical cleaning doesn’t fix a failed part.
  • Genuine mechanical wear. A worn turbo, tired injectors, a failed EGR cooler or damaged vanes are repairs, not cleaning jobs. A clean won’t bring back a part that’s worn out — and we’ll tell you if that’s what we’re seeing.
  • Extremely heavy or hardened deposits. On a long-neglected engine, carbon can bake hard onto intake surfaces. Deposits like that may need physical removal and manual cleaning, and no chemical process will fully shift them.
  • DPF-related faults. DPF warnings, excessive soot load or repeatedly failed regenerations need the DPF system assessed separately. Intake cleaning does not clean, unblock or repair a DPF. Our complete mobile light-vehicle DPF service is $650.
  • Turbo cleaning is not included in this service. Turbo-related faults or carbon concerns are assessed separately, and mechanical faults may require repair.

Diagnosis is what determines the right approach. That’s why we do it first.

Intake carbon cleaning and your DPF

Intake carbon cleaning and DPF cleaning are two different services. An intake clean does not clean, unblock or repair a DPF. If the vehicle has DPF warnings, excessive soot load or regeneration problems, the DPF system needs to be assessed separately.

Not sure which one you need? If you have a DPF warning, excessive soot load or a regeneration problem, start with our DPF assessment. If you’re simply not sure whether the problem is DPF, intake carbon or something else, contact us with the vehicle details and symptoms and we’ll point you in the right direction.

How often does a diesel intake need cleaning?

There is no single interval that suits every diesel. Carbon buildup depends on the engine, EGR strategy, driving conditions, kilometres, duty cycle and existing contamination. We assess the vehicle and recommend cleaning when there is a genuine reason to do it, rather than selling it automatically at a fixed kilometre interval.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is diesel intake carbon cleaning?

It’s a service that treats the carbon deposits that build up on a diesel’s air-in side — the intake, the intake manifold, the inlet-valve area and the EGR valve and its connecting path. We carry it out on the vehicle using professional Wynn’s MultiSERVE equipment.

What is Wynn’s MultiSERVE?

Professional workshop service equipment. For this service we use its dedicated Air Intake Treatment program, which delivers the appropriate Wynn’s professional cleaning fluid through the air intake while the engine is operating under the required service conditions.

How is this different from a fuel additive or spray cleaner?

Different cleaning methods work in different ways. Our $550 service uses Wynn’s MultiSERVE professional equipment and its dedicated Air Intake Treatment program to deliver the appropriate chemical treatment directly through the intake under controlled service conditions.

Do you remove the intake manifold?

Not as part of this service. On suitable vehicles the treatment is carried out on the vehicle without component disassembly. If your intake is contaminated badly enough to need physical removal and manual cleaning, we’ll tell you — that’s a different job.

Can intake carbon cause poor performance?

Carbon buildup on the intake and EGR side can restrict airflow, and owners often notice a flat-feeling engine or rougher running. But those same symptoms can come from a blocked DPF, a faulty sensor or genuine mechanical wear, which is why we diagnose before recommending anything.

Does intake cleaning fix a blocked DPF?

No. Intake carbon cleaning and DPF cleaning are two different services. An intake clean does not clean, unblock or repair a DPF. If the vehicle has DPF warnings, excessive soot load or regeneration problems, the DPF system needs to be assessed separately.

Do you diagnose the vehicle first?

Yes. We scan the vehicle and assess the symptoms before we sell you a clean. If the real problem is something else, you’ll hear that from us rather than paying for a service that won’t help.

Is the service mobile?

Yes. We’re fully mobile across Brisbane and the surrounding areas. We come to you and carry out the service at a suitable location with safe access and ventilation. Heavy vehicles and trucks are quoted individually.

What if the carbon buildup is too severe for chemical cleaning?

Then we’ll say so. Very heavy or hardened deposits may need physical removal and manual cleaning, and failed components need repair rather than treatment. We’d rather tell you that up front than take $550 for a clean that won’t deliver.
